Waiting, Waiting, Waiting ....

Tina Turner has great legs, inexhaustible energy, and a captivating voice. Whenever I picture her, she's in motion. She and her back-up singers are performing on a giant stage, and they're never still. They're dancing, kicking, whirling about in all directions, and they're always singing the same song: "Rolling, Rolling, Rolling."

On July 2nd, I ordered a kindle, an electronic reader that stores up to 1500 books,a library that doesn't collect mold. Ever since the 2nd, I've been waiting, waiting, waiting for my kindle to be delivered. What would Tina do, if her great legs were in my shoes? While waiting, waiting, waiting, she'd probably cavort about. She might even dust or wax floors. And she'd sing. To the tune of "Rolling, Rolling, Rolling," she'd sing "Waiting, Waiting, Waiting." The song's such a natural it might even make the charts. Now, I no longer cavort. Motion, whether perpetual or intermittent, has no appeal. While waiting, waiting, waiting, I've been listing the titles of books I might want to read someday. None will cost more than $0.00, and none will be filled with mold. Oh such joy! Periodically, I burst into song. "Waiting, Waiting, Waiting," of course, a song with possibilities but with me singing it'll never make the charts.

  1. Waiting another example of the flexibility of time.

On Wednesday evening if one listens carefully in the streets of Edina:

What's reading got to do, got to do with it
What's reading but a second hand skill
What's reading got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a Kindle when a Kindle can be broken

It may seem to you that I'm acting confused
    When I am charging you.
If a tend to look dazed I've read it someplace
    that there is a USB
    There's a cable for it
but I can't get it to fit
But whatever the reason, a book will do it for me

What's reading got to do, got to do with it
What's reading but a second hand skill
What's reading got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a Kindle when a Kindle can be broken
