Wired

Fortunately, I've been in training at the Y. To install my new phone/answering machine contraption I shoved furniture and stacked books with strength and abandon just to find the electrical outlets and phone jacks I'd need to get the job done. Eureka! There they were! Behind a desk, a few bookcases, and a filing cabinet. Outlets and jacks were already full of plugs. Emanating from the plugs were wires that had somehow become tightly interwoven to form balls of wire the size of grapefruit. From the "grapefruit" wires emerged and ended up plugged into various electronic devices. Since plugs and balls of wire were at mid-calf level, well outside my line of vision, I belly flopped onto the floor and treaded carpet while unraveling the compacted mass. In the end, the installation was completed. The new phone works. The old computer is less dysfunctional. And ... the Old Baguette is up, off the floor, no longer treading carpet, ready to climb the podium and accept the Olympic bronze.
